Here is a FREE Printable Outline Template for 5 BOX BEADS - Paper Beads. These are a brand new shape of paper bead that do not use a roller. At the time of posting I could not find any paper beads in the shape of a box or cube, so I designed these myself, and would like to share the technique with you.
This template can make Five (5) BOX BEADS, or Five (5) to Fifteen (15) small ROLLED BEADS,
depending if you use 1, 2 or 3 layers per bead - All beads will be 3/8-inch wide.
To make Box Beads, you will first want to watch my tutorial on YouTube for instructions. Just click here and jump to my YouTube channel...
The Box Bead will make a perfect addition to your paper bead DIY projects. This downloadable .PDF file comes ready to print, allowing you to easily create your own unique paper beads at home. One page prints 5 beads (3 strips each). You can print the template onto plain, colored or patterned paper. I recommend a stronger paper between 27 and 40 pound in weight. Then cut 3 strips per bead that you want to make. The image above was printed on white paper, then painted with metallic gold and blue markers.
The Box Beads are a little more complex than standard rolled paper beads, with a few more steps. But the tutorial will walk you thru each step of the way.
The 20 minute tutorial is broken into several segments:
Introduction - What the tutorial covers and supplies needed.
Making a Box Bead tool - Making a simple tool used to start the Box Bead shape.
Making the Box Beads - All steps to actually make a Box Bead.
Decorating the Box Beads - One decorating technique of using metallic markers.
Adding Loops/Eye Pins - How to make loops out of eye pins to connect the beads.
Glazing - A simple overview on glazing with Varnish.
Closing - A list of various other ways to print and/or decorate the box beads.
The two chapters on "how to" make loops from eye pins, and "how to" glaze with varnish can also be applied to any of your jewelry-making projects.
Since it is a detailed process the instructions will not be posted here. But the Video covers all of it.
